Although Costa Rica is only about 1.4 times the size of the Netherlands, it ranks among the world’s top producers of high-quality coffee. As a leading coffee-producing country, Costa Rica offers a wide variety of beans, but only the high-altitude regions such as Tarrazú, Tres Ríos and the West Valley are known for their distinctive flavour profiles. Lower-lying areas like Orosi, Brunca and Turrialba mainly produce coffees suited for supermarket blends – perfectly fine for everyday drinking, but not for the true connoisseur.
Mocca d’Or’s Tarrazú coffee stands out with its fruity and sweet character, featuring refined notes of blackberries and milk chocolate. The combination of rich volcanic soil, cooler temperatures and an ideal microclimate results in a full body, lively acidity and a layered aromatic experience.
