Decafeo Dark is a slow-roasted blend from South America made from 100% Arabica beans, known for its bold and pronounced flavour. This sweet espresso features notes of caramel, licorice, and bay leaf.
The decaffeinated coffee beans in Decafeo are processed using the DCM method: beans are soaked in water containing dichloromethane (DCM), a hydrocarbon that binds with caffeine. After soaking, the beans are thoroughly washed multiple times, then steamed, dried, and cooled.
The final step in the decaffeination process is roasting the beans, which removes any remaining traces of dichloromethane, making the coffee ready for packaging.
