Pumpkin Spice Latte: autumn in a cup

Fall in a Cup: Pumpkin Spice Latte

The Pumpkin Spice Latte is the ultimate fall drink. Interestingly, it usually doesn't contain any pumpkin—it's simply a blend of spices that reminds us of our beloved speculaas spices.

Can't find a ready-made mix? No worries! Make your own:

  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves or allspice

Ingredients for 1 serving:

  • 2 shots of espresso
  • 1 tablespoon pumpkin puree
  • Maple syrup, to taste
  • 100 ml milk
  • Pinch of pumpkin spice mix
  • A drop of vanilla extract
  • Cream and sugar to taste
  • 2 tablespoons whipped cream (for topping)

Preparation:

  1. Heat the milk in a saucepan until it’s almost boiling (but don’t let it boil).
  2. Prepare 2 espresso shots and pour them into a large mug or glass jar.
  3. Add the pumpkin puree, maple syrup, pumpkin spice, and vanilla extract to the coffee. Stir well.
  4. Foam the warm milk and pour it over the coffee mixture. You can add some foam on top too.
  5. Top with whipped cream and optionally some cinnamon or chocolate shavings for the perfect touch.

Coffee Tip from De Koffiebaron:

For this latte, you need coffee that can stand up to the spices. These beans are perfect:
