Recipe for a classic French Coffee with Grand Marnier

How to make the perfect French Coffee?
Ingredients for 1 glass:
- 1 cup hot coffee
- 30–45 ml Grand Marnier (or Cointreau as alternative)
- 1–2 teaspoons brown sugar
- 30 ml unsweetened whipped cream
- Optional: a bit of orange zest for garnish
Adjust quantities to taste.
Preparation:
- Brew a fresh, hot cup of coffee.
- Stir the sugar into the coffee until dissolved.
- Add Grand Marnier and stir gently.
- Whip the cream lightly.
- Pour the coffee into a warmed glass.
- Gently spoon the cream over the coffee using the back of a spoon.
- Garnish with orange zest if desired.
Traditionally, French Coffee is made with Grand Marnier. This cognac-based liqueur has a deep, warm orange flavor. Cointreau is also used today, offering a fresher, lighter taste. Try both!
