How to make the perfect French Coffee?

Ingredients for 1 glass:

  • 1 cup hot coffee
  • 30–45 ml Grand Marnier (or Cointreau as alternative)
  • 1–2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 30 ml unsweetened whipped cream
  • Optional: a bit of orange zest for garnish

Adjust quantities to taste.

Preparation:

  1. Brew a fresh, hot cup of coffee.
  2. Stir the sugar into the coffee until dissolved.
  3. Add Grand Marnier and stir gently.
  4. Whip the cream lightly.
  5. Pour the coffee into a warmed glass.
  6. Gently spoon the cream over the coffee using the back of a spoon.
  7. Garnish with orange zest if desired.

Traditionally, French Coffee is made with Grand Marnier. This cognac-based liqueur has a deep, warm orange flavor. Cointreau is also used today, offering a fresher, lighter taste. Try both!
