How to Make a Spectacular Flaming Spanish Coffee?

Ingredients for 1 person:

  • 1 cup hot coffee
  • 30 ml dark rum or Licor 43
  • 15 ml triple sec or orange liqueur
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • Whipped cream (lightly whipped)
  • Optional: cinnamon or nutmeg

Note: Use a heatproof glass and be cautious when lighting the drink.

Preparation:

  1. Warm the glass with hot water and then empty it.
  2. Add the sugar and rum (or Licor 43) to the glass and carefully light it with a long lighter. Let it burn briefly and tilt the glass to caramelize the rim.
  3. Extinguish the flame with the hot coffee.
  4. Add the triple sec and stir gently.
